Sheers

Sheers are light, thin, translucent curtains that are used to decorate any type of window to allow light to pass through while preventing the interior of the room from being seen from the outside. That is, they cover the window and filter the light; rather than blocking the light, they channel it so that we are not left in the dark.

Sheers are simple yet extremely functional; they are an exceptional product in any collection since excellence in this case comes from simplicity, providing the space with both warmth and privacy. The sheer admites many compositions, as a polyester fabric, a linen fabric or a fire-retardant fabric. It depends on the usability of the textile. 

We tend to associate these fabrics with the romantic side of decoration (and of life) since they protect us, provide us with intimacy, and allow us to see and not be seen.

They can stand alone or be paired more ornate curtains to generate numerous decorative options, depending on what kind of covering we want to decorate our windows.

CURTAINS WITH SHEERS

A curtain with a sheer is always an interesting option for either home decor or hotel interiors. Because sheers tend to be made of a lighter fabric with a soft, smooth texture and neutral colors that allow more light in, they go well with a thicker fabric as an outer curtain, creating a highly valued decorative solution.

We propose opting for a simple sheer and giving the curtain more personality, with a more vibrant pattern or color. Of course, there are other decorative possibilities to consider; for example, the curtain can be fully functional (that is, it can cover the entire window space or window) or it can be used to decorate only the top edges of the window as a valence or draped along the sides of the window area to soften the light that enters.

With all these options, allow us to suggest a few Equipo DRT fabrics worth considering. One combination would be to choose from the Foscari line for the curtains with Nerea as a sheer. These fabrics make use of the same pattern, but with different fabrics and transparencies. A more neutral option would be to use Clio as a drape with a satin fabric like Bonn as a sheer, where the focus is no longer on design, but on color.

WHITE SHEERS

Subtlety, elegance, and simplicity are all qualities associated with white sheers. Undoubtedly, white is the color most often chosen for sheers for its ability to provide privacy by filtering the light without blocking it entirely. This is especially true in sunnier climes like the Mediterranean, where shades of white – and light itself – are the main protagonists.

In addition, white sheers are synonymous with purity, cleanliness, and hygiene.

Treviso, Escocia, and Savoy are our three favorite proposals for sheers in this color as they are capable of lighting up any room despite the fact that their function is to filter the light; this apparent contradiction is resolved through their beautiful white color.

SHEERS FOR THE KITCHEN

The kitchen is one of the places in the home where sheers are most frequently used.

Kitchen curtains thus become a doubly special decorative element, since kitchens are increasingly becoming places where the daily life of a household is lived, where not only family time is enjoyed, but also where more and more time is spent working from home.

For this reason, at Equipo DRT we offer you the possibility of making kitchen sheers even more special; for example, by making them out of recycled fabric like our Up-Home 200 line. This is a recycled, eco-friendly fabric for woven curtains made from recycled PET yarns with a grid design. For every meter of fabric, up to five plastic bottles have been recycled – 100% recycled polyester fabrics for environmentally conscious people and homes.

SHEERS FOR THE LIVING ROOM

Our Prague fabric is a curtain material inspired by traditional Swiss embroidery, but overlaid with an irregular texture that lends it a sense of movement. Once hung, Prague curtains surprise us with their drape and nuanced transparency. It is a sheer, but with the look of a curtain. The same can be said of our Ducal linen line.

This is a subtle way to add a bit of flair – a stripe with slight relief or a texture that generates mini squares – these very simple textures go a long way to put more “life” into the living room.
